Women on Wheels – Hundreds of Bikes Given to Women in Punjab




The year 2018 have turned out to be quiet promising for women on the whole. It is no surprise The year 2018 have turned out to be quiet promising for women on the whole. It is no surprise that in this particular century women are trying their luck in all the domains. Recently we have spotted females driving bikes as well. Something which was considered as a Taboo earlier. It is quite pleasant to see that even government is encouraging women to drive motorbikes. Females around the globe have been driving motorbikes for quite some time now. However, in Pakistan, this was one of the segment which still required to tap on.





Among all the provinces in Pakistan Punjab turned out to be the first one to separate women on wheels. The project was even named as women on wheels.  More of a campaign where women are encouraged to drive cars as well as motorbikes fearlessly in the country.

Under the label of this project number of women have been granted motorbikes. These motorbikes are subsidized and they have been granted to women who are citizens of Punjab in particular. On April 14th, 2018 Sunday formal ceremony was organized in which about 700 women were given the bikes. The event was organized at Al Hamra hall which was attended by a number of dignitaries. The bikes were given to women by the Excise Minister of Punjab, Mr. Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman. According to the Excise Minister, the world can not progress without women. Therefore it remains extremely important for women to take part in every segment of life.


He said added that these guys are being provided to females at subsidized rates. This will provide support to them financially and even address the transport issue to some extent. According to him, even the police is helping women to learn how to ride a bike properly on the crowded streets of Pakistan.

He further enlightens the crowd that stuff or 3,000 bikes have been granted to women all around Punjab. Adding to the project women on wheels is aimed towards further expansion. The project is aimed to cover approximately 36 districts of Punjab. One thing which is time to show your attention is that these guys have been particularly designed for women. Now how these bikes have been designed for women that remains another mystery.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope that this project brings out some positivity in the region. Watching that this project actually turns out to be a success rather than going down the drain
