Traffic Signs and its Use in Pakistan




Traffic Signs history dates back to the era of Roman Empire where they used to place stones on streets in order to direct the people to their correct destinations. Pakistan follows British road signage system, which is made bilingual i.e. both in Urdu and English as for the ease of the citizens.





Almost every year, thousands of citizens die due to road accidents. This is only because people of Pakistan do not have traffic sense and they are not aware of traffic signs, which are found rarely on the streets. According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, 8, 885 road accidents occurred in Pakistan during 2013. Hence, Government should start educating the people about road Signs rules, which helps in reducing traffic accidents. Furthermore, workshops and training sessions should be arranged at the school and college level to create awareness about Traffic Signs.
