Women Riders Get Motorcycle Subsidy in Punjab
Whenever the Punjab Government is under the leadership of Mr.Shahbaz Sharif, we certainly do witness numerous unique schemes. In his last tenure, the country witnessed free laptop schemes which gained immense popularity. However, this time the Government of Punjab has come up with something more innovative. This time the Punjab Government is offering financial support on motorcycles. What’s the catch? The offer is exclusively designed for females. Therefore, only women who aim to ride a bike will be able to benefit from it.
The Strategic Reform Unit of Chief Minister has eventually given final shape to its most awaited financial scheme. The grant has been labeled as “Women on Wheels: Motorbike Subsidy Scheme”. This project, Women on Wheels is it its second phase now.
Women on Wheels is a joint venture of Bank of Punjab and between Transport Department. The main aim of coming up with such a project is to empower women. Encouraging Females to ride a bike and make their life easier. As knowing bike riding skill can help at so many levels. One can not only earn bread for the family but can complete household tasks with ease. Moreover, most of the people in Pakistan are living a middle-class life. Therefore, the bike seems to be the only practical mode of transport. As a result, Females on Wheels – subsidiary scheme will give customized 3000 motorcycles. The beneficiary will have to pay a certain amount since the rates of the bike are only subsidized. In order to keep the process transparent, the government has opted for 100% transparent balloting process.
Females can benefit from Women on Wheels campaign from January 22 – February 25. Adding on, the campaign main motive is to full fill Chief Minister Punjab promise made to women. Since he promised that he will empower women, during the times when women mistreatment have made headlines around the country.
In its initial stage, the campaign has been introduce in five cities. Including, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, and Rawalpindi. Training about 3000 women at first and with an aim to train more women in near future. The few of the requirements of this scheme include that women must be between the age of 18-40. They should have valid license either learner or permanent. Other requirements include passport size photographs, CNIC, Matriculation certificate, Punjab domicile certificate and an affidavit in case of a student. Also, the basic income of the individual should not be exceeding PKR.30000. In order to avail the scheme, one would have to pay PKR.3000 application fee to any of BoP branch which is non-refundable.
After this, they will be avail the benefits. Punjab Government will be giving 100% mark up and provide equity subsidy of PKR.24975. Also, the applicant will have to make payment of PKR.27000 which will be payable is 12-month easy installment. Making approximately PKR.1856 to pay every month.
